Glenturret Distillery

Glenturret is the oldest distillery in Scotland and home of The Famous Grouse Experience, an award winning interactive distillery tour which hosts over 100,000 visitors anually.

 Phase 1 - 2008

Scottish Bioenergy installed a micro-reactor at the Glenturret Facility.  Tests were conducted on growth rates with and without flue gas and effluent from the distilling process.   The algae was able to capture copper from the effluent and flourished in contaminated water. Growth rates were in excess of 100 grams / square meter / day.
